Government schools cover primary  (Class 1 – 5), lower secondary (Class 6 – 8), and secondary (Class 9 – 10) in Nepal are free – but – there are costs that every students must pay (admission fee, exam fees, stationary, and uniforms) that totals ~$50/year.  There are additional costs for what we would call high school student (Class 8 – 10) and even more for what is considered higher secondary (Class 11 – 12).  

These costs are often beyond the capabilities of orphans and many youth growing up in rural areas of Nepal. A very small donation can help change their lives.

College and university studies are also beyond the reach of many students but tuition is only ~$300 – $1,000/year depending on what the student is studying.  There are no PELL grants, merit based scholarships, government student loans or athletic scholarships like we have in the United States.  

Students that receive college scholarships are asked to contribute ~10% of their income for ten years back into the scholarship fund after they have graduated to help support other students. We also require community service each year they are funded. The financial contributions we ask of them after their graduation is a pay it forward concept — but more importantly — a scholarship sustainability effort.

Uniforms (shirt, slacks/skirts, tie, belt and shoes) cost ~$10 USD for each student.  Stationary which includes notebooks to take notes and do homework on is the largest cost and for Class 8 and above can be as much at $50/student/year.  A donation of $25 or $50 makes a huge difference to the educational success of a child.  Consider supporting a student.
